Stephen Butzlaff, a native of metropolitan Chicago, has had a camera in his hand since school. His early prowess led to a first place in the Scholastic National High School Photographic Award. Today he exclusively shoots with a Leica M Rangefinder along with a Leica SL. He can be found on streets in urban areas hunting for the spontaneous moment capturing the humor, surprise and drama of everyday life. Steve has studied under world- recognized street photographers Peter Turnley, Matt Stuart London based Magnum Photos, Paris and London-based Marie Lagineau, as well as notables Craig Semetko and Tom Smith, both Leica Academie Masters. He regularly posts his work on Leica Fotopark Gmb , Leica Fotographie International as well as on local organizations’ blogs promoting social change.
